Obituary of Adrian Boyd
N Adrian Boyd OBE, FRCS, MS, O St J, GSM Clasp N Ireland, born 1.5.34 in Hendon and died at home peacefully on 8.6.19. looked after by his caring wife Tina. He is also survived by his identical twin brother Alistair, his children Gregory, Martin, Angus, Charmian, grandchildren and first wife Meryel. After school at Marlborough College, he trained as a doctor at Charing Cross Medical School and Great Ormond Street, specialising in Accident & Emergency, Trauma and Orthopaedics. He served in the Royal Army Medical Corps at hospitals in Millbank, Woolwich, Tidworth, Cyprus, Birmingham, Aldershot, Jordan No 2 field hospital (surgical commitment) and Musgrave Park in Belfast. He was awarded the OBE for his work in the latter. After leaving the army as Lieutenant Colonel in 1976, he continued a distinguished career as an orthopaedic consultant on the Isle of Wight and in hospitals on the mainland. He loved his work and the many patients he treated were very appreciative of his immense skill and knowledge. Adrian enjoyed time with friends and family; gracing occasions with his cheekiness and wit. He spent many wonderful years sailing in the UK and Mediterranean. Latterly, golf and a Sunday pint brought new circles of friends. He will be missed by many.
